I didn't want to be a screen shot!!!!!

But you are and I love you!

You're number 1 in my heart.
(Deanna, don't worry- I'm just saying that because she was fine with being number 2, but why not give the girl what she wants)  ((Good thing only you can read that part))

Another New Phone in the Family

Once upon a time I posted on here that my mum, Baba, got a new phone.  After pondering over it last night, I reasoned that it would be a good idea to announce the arrival of another new phone in the family, Gig's phone.

Now, you might notice that it's not an iphone like Baba's.  Don't feel bad for Gig, it's for everyone's best that he didn't get a "smartphone" as he told me.

But at least this one has a sporty cover that matches his mustard Carhart shirt.... (also what he told me)

He's Back

For the last few weeks I haven't been able to see Gig.  When your parents take a trip to Disney World without you (even if you're long gone out of the house), it's harder to stay in touch.  Thus, there have been fewer opportunities for skype dates.  And honestly, you may have noticed a few things during this time period:

1. I haven't been blogging as much.  This proves that much of my inspiration comes from Gig.
2. I haven't been singing as much.  Or at least not so loudly that you can hear it across the world.  Yeah- that used to happen a lot before the last few weeks.
3. My new smile started to look like a frown.

But tonight, I got to see Gig and it was wonderful!

I even sang a song to him that I made up.
It goes like this:

"Happy Easter to you.
Happy Easter to you.
Happy Easter dear Gig,
Happy Easter to you."

This picture shows his fond reception of my impromptu Easter song.

A Feather in his Cap

I have a favorite memory.  You may too.  Most people do.

My favorite memory is of sitting on my Grandpa Swanson's lap while he would sit in his easy chair.  He always wore a feather in his hat and I loved taking them out and sticking them in my hair.  That was always a happy place for me to be, sitting on his lap and visiting.

A few weeks ago during a skype conversation with my parents, Gig looked just like Grandpa Swanson.  He was wearing a different type of cap and the feather was a little bigger than I remember, but it reminded me of my favorite memory.

Valentine's Day

Even though none of us are really big on Valentine's Day here, it was important to celebrate the occasion with a few honored traditions this past weekend.

The first one of those traditions was.... Valentine's SHOEBOXES!

I helped Aliza and Norah decorate them.  (If you see Yaya or Norah- Don't tell them these shoeboxes were meant to house all of the Valentines that people gave them... because they didn't get any, but at least they have shoeboxes with holes at the top... just in case.)

Yaya's had a very nice garden theme.

And Norah's had a very nice monster theme, but as you can see she got a little bit distracted and started decorating her baby with the stickers instead.

But then we got back on track...

And of course the second honored tradition is a rose and a valentine from my father:

Gig knows how to treat his ladies!
I'm sure that rose was actually for my mum, not me...  but I wouldn't say that to him of course.

Suddenly, during the second tradition something unexpected happened:
Baba and Gig started singing...

"I've Got You Babe" by Sonny and Cher
Baba even had jingle bells in her hand...

Happy Valentine's Day!

A New Shovel

My dad showed me his new snow shovel over skype this weekend.  It has probably come in handy with how much snow my parents have been getting in Connecticut recently.

He didn't smile in the first picture, as you can see.

So I had to take this one.
Much better smile Gig.

Bunny Hugs

After seeing that my father and I both had a hard time remembering the correct words to the songs he used to sing to me as a baby, we had a group session (more like an intervention) on skype to practice them.  That's why Baba had a tambourine in her last skype-candid picture.

All of this called to mind another classic Gig song, "Bunny hug, Bear hug."  Here are the words:

"Bunny hug, bunny hug
Bear hug, bear hug
Bunny hug, bunny hug
Bear hug, bear hug

Bear huuuuggggggggg, bunny hug"

You can see that Gig is pretending to hold a lil' baby in his arms as he is singing the classic.

Sting Ray

is what I like to call another law of skype that I've recently uncovered.

The first skype law was written about my parents in a previous post.  It started as a hypothesis, but I finalized it as a law tonight.  This is the second.  Who knows?  Someday my work might be included in physics books across the world like Newton's... I can only hope.

2nd Skype Law:
If the person I'm skyping with has a dog- I can guarantee that dog is going to get some screen time.  It's not that I ask people to do this.  I don't.  I wouldn't.  If there's a web cam around, people just can't help but include their furry friends in the skype conversation.

But there is no one that loves this law quite as much as my Best Friend.  Even when I visit her house I am subjected to watching her cuddle with her dog, Gracie.  But I guess it's time to admit that it's things like this that I miss and that make my day when I get to experience them long distance.

So Stephanie, even though I'm grossed out by all the love- I appreciate it and I love Gracie too.
